A tragic accident in Jackson County has resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The fatal incident took place on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of County Road 300 East and County Road 300 South, just east of Brownstown Township, according to WDRB. Local law enforcement and emergency personnel arrived at the scene around 1:32 p.m., but despite their efforts, they were unable to save the victim. The Jackson County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 66-year-old Kim C. Kaufman, as reported by FOX59. Kaufman was riding a silver 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on County Road 300 South when the crash occurred. After passing a passenger car traveling in the same direction, Kaufman attempted to overtake a dump truck but lost control during the maneuver, according to accident investigators cited by WISH-TV. This led to Kaufman veering off the road, hitting a mailbox, and being thrown from the motorcycle. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the exact cause of death, along with toxicology tests to further investigate the circumstances of the crash. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is expected to provide more details following these examinations.
